Revolution of America
I will began my presentation with former president of United States John Adam’s words: “The revolution was effected before the war commenced. The Revolution was in Hearts and minds of People.”
But before the revolution has started, there were plenty of reasons and occasions of rebellion.
In the 18th century Britain and France have several wars because of American Colonies.
The France claimed than Louisiana was its colony (the reason was very simple that first explorer who find Louisiana’s land was from France).Britain and other American colonies were against that proof, So France suppose to send their troops in order to occupy Mississippi River. After that begun 7-years war between Britain and France, which is known as French and Indian war. The war was over by Peace of Paris.Britain has conquest the Quebec which belonged to France in Canada. The aftermath of this war, London forbade the colonists to settle west of the Appalachian Mountain, where Amerindian tribes live. George III was trying to prevent the war with Amerindians, so he gave the proclamation which limited the colonists. Moreover London needed more money to support its growing empire so they pass new law about taxation in America. Colonists had to pay new taxes for import:sugar, textiles, coffee and other goods. The British government was sure that colonists wouldn’t object this new law, because British solder were helping Colonists in French and Indian wars, But The colonists did object this law. The colonists thought that new taxes made imports difficult for them to trade at a profit. Besides that, colonists thought if British troops stayed in America, they had to adopt new laws or unfair proclamations by English government.
In the 1765 the British parliament passed another proclamation that called Stamp Act. This implied that the colonists had to buy special stamps and attach them papers, such as: wills and mortgages.
The colonists were against this act and they claimed that British government had no right to pass new taxes in America, because America had no representations in English parliament. After that the expression “No taxation without representation” became very popular.
Few month later there presentatives from 9 colonies met in New York. All over the colonies merchants and shopkeepers refused to sell British goods until the act would edit. The well-knows Boston tea party was exactly the protest against British taxation.
Foreign police during the revolution
In France, enthusiasm for the American cause was high, they were against feudalism and privilege.
The French government had been eager for reprisal against Britain ever since France’s defeat in 1763. To further the American cause,Benjamin Franklin was sent to Paris in 1776. His wit, guile, and intellect soon made their presence felt in the French capital, and played a major role in winning French assistance. France began providing aid to the colonies on May,1776, when it sent 14 ships with war supplies to America. In fact, most of thegunpowder used by the American armies came from France. After Britain’s defeat Saratoga, France saw an opportunity to seriously weaken its ancient enemyand restore the balance of power that had been upset by the Seven Years’ War(called the French and Indian War in the American colonies). On February 6,1778, the colonies and France signed a Treaty of Amity and Commerce, in which France recognized the United States and offered trade concessions. They alsosigned a Treaty of Alliance, which stipulated that if France entered the war, neither country would lay down its arms until the colonies won their independence that neither would conclude peace with Britain without the consentof the other, and that each guaranteed the other’s possessions in America. Thiswas the only bilateral defense treaty signed by the United States or its predecessors until 1949. The Franco-American alliance soon broadened theconflict. In June 1778 British ships fired on French vessels, and the two countries went to war. In 1779 Spain, hoping to reacquire territories taken by Britain in the Seven Years’ War, entered the conflict on the side of France, but not as anally of the Americans. In 1780 Britain declared war on the Dutch, who had continued to trade with the Americans. The combination of these European powers, with France in the lead, was a far greater threat to Britain than the American colonies standing alone.
The most valuable gift that France gave to America (Nowadays sits very popular landmark in USA,) in memory of help that France do for the Independence of United state, it’s a statue of liberty, which became the symbol of Freedom of America.
France really gave help to Americans because after their alliance between these two countries, the consequences were very profitable for American colonists.
